Classical Music and dance

India is known for beautiful, exotic and ancient monuments and locales.

What it is also known for is herds of buffaloes and cows walking listlessly across wide city roads without a worry in the world.

Indian music has been lately appreciated by the young generation of other countries thanks to the concept of fusion. So, Indian people being generous as they are decided to not only appreciate but to embrace foreign classical music as well as their dance! This is quite apparent in the latest ads that have come up...Nirma under water dance and Parle lite ad with all those sumos wrestlers dancing the ballet.

Quite a watch!

bring home the oscars

I dare say A R Rehman has done a brilliant job with the Jai Ho...song in Slumdog Millionaire. He has gained rightfully deserved accolades and of course the Oscars. Interestingly, the movie and its director Danny Boyle have been criticised at the same time. The points of criticism go like this...this is not an Indian movie, its a typical underdog story, its not a true depiction of India and so on and so forth.
Several articles in all kinds the newspapers, magazines et al about it. Some people agreed to the critics...some did not. What came out from all this can be beautifully exemplified by this...an 86 year old lady who had not watched movies on theatre for some thirty odd years...went out with her friends bought the tickets, watched the movie and had a gala time about it!!

However BIG the movie was, the word-of-mouth about it certainly was Oscar quality! Way to go Indian Media Industry!
